Thank you Jean, for doing most of the work, back in 2020.

After she completed her work, it took me a few years to turn my attention to the project, and to decide definitely to build the new website in WordPress, rather than updating the custom PHP code that I built for the original website. Pros and cons, you know. Then, some touch-up by me, and voila!

Soon, hopefully, I will add some new music, and insert download buttons where appropriate. Enjoy!

Tell Me https://momentarymusic.com/tell-me/ Thu, 21 Nov 2019 05:00:19 +0000 https://momentarymusic.com/?p=761 Continue reading "Tell Me"]]> Tell me till my heart aches
Tell me so I know
The story of your sorrow
The truth beyond my longing.

Lost continent of frozen dreams
Where ice surrounds the fires
As darkness turns to empty dawn
You stood alone in the cold wind.

Tell me where you wandered
Tell me who you loved.
Twas you I loved, twas ever you,
But I walked away into cold winds.

Tell me how much time has passed
And how much time remains.
Forever and a day has passed,
And only now remains.

(The first eight words were clearly sung by a torch song singer in a dream, in another plane or timeline; then my awareness snapped back here. Touched, I decided to imagine the song into being in this plane, and this is what we get.)

World Building Legends https://momentarymusic.com/when-on-wings/ Mon, 28 Jan 2013 00:00:29 +0000 https://momentarymusic.com/?p=64 Continue reading "World Building Legends"]]> In the the twentieth century, scientists said the world is made of:
… particles and energy,
… possibility waves and measurements,
… symmetry groups and non-commuting operators,
… acausal data and complexity and emergent phenomena,
all in a majestic curving sea of space and time.

But I say, in a deeper human sense, the world is is made of:
… math and beauty,
… wretchedness and compassion,
… stories of wandering and awakening,
… pure flowing colors and sounds and joys and longing,
all in an uncontainable weightless sea of awareness and love.

The galaxy UGC 8201, captured here by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope, is a dwarf irregular galaxy, so called because of its small size and chaotic structure. It lies just under 15 million light-years away from us in the constellation of Draco (the Dragon). As with most dwarf galaxies it is a member of a larger group of galaxies. In this case UCG 8201 is part of the M81 galaxy group; this group is one of the closest neighbours to the Local Group of galaxies, which contains our galaxy, the Milky Way. UGC 8201 is at an important phase in its evolution. It has recently finished a long period of star formation, which had significant impact on the whole galaxy. This episode lasted for several hundred million years and produced a high number of newborn bright stars. These stars can be seen in this image as the dominating light source within the galaxy. This process also changed the distribution and amount of dust and gas in between the stars in the galaxy. Such large star formation events need extensive sources of energy to trigger them. However, compared to larger galaxies, dwarf galaxies lack such sources and they do not appear to have enough gas to produce as many new stars as they do. This raises an important unanswered question in galaxy evolution: How do relatively isolated, low-mass systems such as dwarf galaxies sustain star formation for extended periods of time? Due to its relative proximity to Earth UGC 8201 is an excellent object for research and provides an opportunity to improve our understanding of how dwarf galaxies evolve and grow. (Caption by NASA)

The Turtle and the Crow

A crow and a turtle are having a chat on the forest floor.

The turtle says, “It takes time.”

The crow says, “Time takes us.”

A man marches by on the path, and they follow him with their eyes until he disappears over a hill.

“Where is he going?” wonders the crow.

“To the other side of the hill,” says the turtle.

“My friend, you have no imagination.”

“I imagine a lake.”

“You remember a lake. I imagine the sky.”

“You live in the sky.”

“Not when I am here talking with you. The sky lives in me. I live in the forest. Sometimes I sleep in a nest.”

“I live in my shell. When I get to a lake, I slide in and rest on the bottom.”

“So simple,” says the crow, and he flies off.

The turtle continues on his way.

One Fine Day https://momentarymusic.com/one-fine-day/ Mon, 08 Oct 2007 00:00:29 +0000 https://momentarymusic.com/?p=626 Continue reading "One Fine Day"]]> One fine day, the Master introduced us to the Lord of All Mercies,
Universal Savior, Revealer of Deepest True Heart.
And there he was, present among us and within us,
True heart of love revealing true heart of love, in all of us.

I looked around, and most of us appeared confidently happy,
Joyous to see him again.
But one woman’s cheeks were covered with tears of joy.
Yes, I recognize those tears.

And I watched closely, secretly, as the tears continued,
On and on as she dabbed her cheeks and eyes with tissue.
Sun, rain, and that leads to rainbow…
Yes, there it is!

Her whole face flaming with love and resolve.
All doubt and self-definition dropped beside the road.
Gratitude, and “I will be you, you will be me,
we will go all the way together, and no one will be left behind.”

no wave not my dear child
the unceasing change my seat
the vast love my compass and guide
the untold openness my clear sky
the ever presence my soul’s constant wind
right here, a steady song of sure liberty

What ancient probabilities lurk within?

Did a mammoth kill her?
Or was it that other species of homo?
Can’t be too sure; or maybe we can be all too sure.
Let’s kill them!

And yet, what ancient joys lie sleeping within!

The freedom of the shooting stars.
The music of the wind in the trees.
The stillness of the moon on a lake.
The miracle of snow, that first winter in the north.

Did we come to our senses in these moments?

Something
Someone
a Substance
or Field

is

Real
Good
Eternal
or True

and it’s located

Under
Over
Inside
or Beyond

the visible; or maybe it’s all just

Pervasive
Identical
Pristine
or Nil.

Well, if that’s what they say, then

Mu Mu Mu Mu.
Hi there old friend!

[Be still and wait]
